We recently visited Zizzi Winchester for ann early lunch and, unfortunately, it was a really disappointing experience from start to finish. We were one of only three tables in the restaurant, so it wasn’t as though the staff were rushed off their feet. The server, who we later discovered was the assistant manager, was shockingly unpleasant. My husband had briefly gone to the loo and had only just returned to the table when she appeared wanting to take our order. We hadn’t even had a chance to properly look at the menus. Rather than taking our drinks order and giving us a moment, she stood there looking visibly irritated while my husband hurriedly skimmed the menu. We asked what the difference was between the Classic and Rustica pizzas. She simply repeated the names. When I asked if she could please explain the difference, she rather curtly replied, “One is stretched.” Not particularly helpful and certainly not delivered in a friendly way. The arancini was lovely, but unfortunately my Classic Margherita was cool, rubbery and bland. Nobody came back to check whether everything was OK, and we had to find another member of staff ourselves just to ask for some tap water. The restaurant itself was also surprisingly chilly (hard to believe it was August) and there was a slight smell of damp. Given this, perhaps a good session with a dehumidifier wouldn’t go amiss! The toilets were, quite frankly, awful. One was blocked with a large amount of tissue, another wouldn’t flush and had clearly been used several times without being flushed, and the third had what appeared to be either vomit or urine over the seat, with the smell to match. Surely keeping the toilets clean and functional is a basic responsibility, particularly for the manager on duty. Were they not checked prior to opening? It wasn’t even 1pm yet! One positive was Lucy, the other server, who was super friendly, helpful and exactly how you’d expect to be treated in a restaurant. A real credit to the company! It’s such a shame because I’ve previously enjoyed Zizzi Winchester, including a couple of fun staff parties there. Sadly, this visit was a completely different experience and we won’t be returning.

The whole experience was awful. I attended on my own with three children and I am a member of the zillionnaires club as I regularly eat at Zizzi. From the off the waiter assumed I was expecting three free children's meals like I wasn't capable of reading or understanding the terms and conditions. I also had a buyagift voucher for £49 and they didn't try to redeem the zillionnaires code with it as the vouchers couldn't be stacked which was as fair enough. The waitress wasn't experienced enough to use the buy a gift voucher and called her manager over. He managed to redeem the voucher and commented that it is was because the value was under £49. I was not once asked during service whether I wanted a dessert or another drink. All three of the children are from the Bambino menu. The waiter made a point of giving other diners feedback cards making a point of saying they were having a friendly competition to see who could win and about a £10 reward saying that if nothing else it wasn't brownie points with the managers! Other diners were given complimentary hot chocolate, even those with children, and I was just given the receipt, so it felt like from the start he had made assumptions about me and my family! Comparatively I went to Bath Zizzi with a friend at the weekend and we were treated completely differently with friendly staff! I also used another buy a gift voucher with no issues whatsoever. The waitress was marginally friendlier than her colleague and his judgemental attitude was not needed, and the obvious way he treated us differently to other diners felt discriminatory. The children enjoyed their meals and the food was of a good standard but the treatment from the waiter ruined the experience.. Although I love the zizzi brand I will not be attending the Winchester branch again and this will be my first and last experience!

This was the worst meal out we have ever had. 14 of us came for a family meal. Starters came out but children’s starters came out over 20 minutes after the adults starters. No starter dishes were removed from the table and the mains came out. One main was STONE cold. Another main came out after four people had already finished their mains. Two of our party had a carbonara and it was awful. Completely dry with no sauce. We even asked the staff if they would eat this? And they replied no. Whilst eating our mains the staff then tried to bring out desserts whilst we were still eating and we now have not only starter dishes on the table but also main dishes on the table. One person ordered a cup of tea as his drink which never even came to the table. We complained to the manager who didn’t seem that bothered and just kept walking out without actually resolving the issue. We were in there for 2 hours at this point and just said leave the desserts as we don’t want them and we also had children who were getting tired. Never ever would we eat here again. Worst experience we have had. Overall this would of been over £300-£400 for the whole table. Thankfully they 1/2 the bill due to our complaints but even that they didn’t deserve.

We arrived at the restaurant approximately 10 minutes early. We were welcomed by a lady who said she just had to prepare the table which wasn’t a problem as far as we were concerned. We eventually sat down at our table and were given menus. Whist looking at the menu, I had the opportunity to watch the staff on duty. From the minute we sat down it was clear to me that there was a staffing issue, or lack thereof. The lady that greeted us was clearing tables, taking orders, delivering drinks and meals. Two other male employees were observed rushing here and there. We eventually placed our food and drink requirements and waited. And waited. And waited. After approximately 20 minutes our meals turned up, closely followed by our drinks. The food was excellent - couldn’t be faulted. Shame about the service. The staff were clearly doing the best they could under the circumstances. I find it unbelievable that there were so few staff on duty on a Thursday evening. I will not be visiting this branch of Zizzi’s again.
