  Had lovely family meal on a Saturday night with my wife and children . Lovely food, great service from the staff and a warm atmosphere. Well done Sean and team, we will definitely be back!

  Lovely Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, the staff were warm and attentive, and nothing felt rushed. We stayed longer than planned, which says it all really. We'll definitely be back.

  We have been very impressed with the new owners and the way they have refurnished the place as it looks far more elegant. However, the food we experienced today outshone everything else. Would highly recommend the prawn and Devon crab linguine as well as the Cornish sole, as they were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Such a delight to eat tasty food instead of normal pub grub. Definitely recommend.

  We’ve just been for Sunday lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and we had a great time. The pub was very clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a really good variety of choices on the menu, which was especially appreciated as we had a couple of fussy eaters and a vegetarian in our group. Everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. Overall, a lovely experience and we’d definitely recommend it. We’ll certainly be back! Richard, Lucy, Oscar & Toby.

  The pub has recently changed hands from independent owners to a chain, and we visited during their first week of opening. I’m hoping some of what we experienced was simply part of them finding their rhythm. The service was genuinely delightful—warm, friendly, and attentive. The space itself is lovely, clean, and welcoming. Starters were very enjoyable, and the desserts were a real highlight. The Guinness ice cream especially was a winner. Unfortunately, the main courses were where things fell short for us. There were three of us dining, and the meals were noticeably inconsistent. Two dishes arrived overcooked and dry, while one was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed (sole). The cauliflower cheese was burnt, and the salmon was very overdone—almost as though they’d been left under heat lamps too long. I was surprised these plates weren’t checked before leaving the kitchen. The burger was particularly disappointing—very dry and not juicy at all. If you knew the Brickmakers burgers before the change of ownership, you’d have cried; they used to be absolutely banging. As someone with a gluten intolerance, I also found the chain’s online gluten guide difficult to navigate. Eating out is already challenging enough without extra barriers, and having clearer gluten‑friendly options marked directly on the menu would make a huge difference. It’s one of the small touches I really appreciated when the Brickmakers was independently owned—those thoughtful details go a long way in creating a smooth, enjoyable dining experience. Not sure i'll go back just yet, maybe give them more time to settle in.
