About

Bakery
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

This review is entirely in response to the coffee served at this joint. Ordered a white americano and it was completely not as expected - it was the rankest coffee I have ever had in my life. You can normally depend on Greggs for good value coffee ( of course it is never the best but more than good enough) - but this was rank and undrinkable. I went back to the counter and informed the staff - they were totally non plussed and seemed to find the whole thing amusing.

I’ve visited the Greggs in Tesco multiple times and, unfortunately, my experiences have been consistently disappointing. On my most recent visit, a Sunday before opening, they opened three minutes late. Even once open, nothing seemed prepared, coffee machines weren’t ready and had to complete their self-cleaning cycle. When I asked for popular breakfast items like a croissant or pain au chocolat, I was told they didn’t have any, not even in the freezer. It’s unclear whether this was misinformation or poor stock management. Staff at this branch often seem unapproachable and lack customer service, and the store is frequently untidy, with unstocked shelves and overflowing bins.

Surprised at the low ratings. Though the queue to get served is usually long, I find the staff polite, friendly and keen to please. The food is no different in quality to high street branches, nor are the prices. The standard of in store cleanliness is also good.

While ordering food, the young girl was chewing gum. She didn't even care while ordering. All the tables were empty and all were dirty . Even it was Boxing Day and there was too many staff members

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
