About

Bakery
We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks. Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours. Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

Unprofessional and rude staff. I bought some food for myself and my childern. We started eating inside because it was extremaly hot outside (30°C)especially for children. After only 5 min, one of staff members told us we were not allowed to stay inside because it was "not a place to eat the food". Seriuosly?

Called in today for a Mocha and sausage and egg bap. Fantastic service and the food and drink was delicious. The lovely young lady (Diane) was so helpful. I shall be calling there more often. I highly recommend a visit.

My wife was accidentally overcharged on bank holiday Sunday, we didn’t notice the discrepancy until the Monday night when we returned home( due to internet) My wife Sharon rang the store on Tuesday at 7am to report the problem. She was put through to Mr K Hughes( the store manager) who sorted the issue promptly and in an extremely professional way. We were reimbursed promptly and even offered a treat next time we are down. We cannot thank Mr Hughes enough. You are a credit to your store. Thank you

Worst greggs I've ever visited! Staff were rude and shouty before they even served us. They plonked the food on the counter and when we picked it up it was stone cold, I asked the staff if they could possibly warm it up for us and was told "no they aren't allowed" I then asked if we could swap it for a cold sandwich which I was told no, once u have paid you can't! Awful customer service will definitely not be going in again! Not surprised there was no one in!

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
