Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. I came back specifically to collect my order and arrived just two minutes after the stated collection start time, only to find the shop completely closed. This place is totally unreliable. Not only was the collection unavailable when it was supposed to be, but I have also never managed to get anything genuinely hot from the hot counter. Every single time I have visited, the food has been cold. The complete lack of consideration for customers' time is incredibly disrespectful. People make journeys and arrangements based on the information provided, only to be let down. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
