  I am writing to leave a constructive complaint regarding my experience. During my visit, I noticed flowers on sale that were two days out of date. A helpful store assistant kindly offered to call the shift manager to see if they could be reduced, which I appreciated especially as he offered that solution up of his own free will. Thoughtful and kind of him. However, when the shift manager, Gary, arrived, he did not acknowledge me, despite the assistant explaining the situation. He simply took the flowers and walked away towards the back of the store. When I asked if he was going to reduce them, he replied that he was not and said, “you can still buy them, you know, the date is just a guide.” I pointed out that they were two days past expiry, at which point he glared at me and continued walking away. I then asked for his name and said I intended to make a complaint about the lack of customer service and the unnecessary waste. Only then did he respond by saying the flowers would be given to charity. I found this interaction dismissive and unprofessional. I felt I was treated as though I was causing a problem simply for raising a reasonable point about product quality and waste. I am particularly disappointed given the importance of sustainability and reducing unnecessary waste. I also attempted to call the store five times afterwards to request Gary’s staff number, but no one answered. Just rang out initially then someone was picking up and hanging up immediately. I would appreciate this matter being looked into. There is no excuse for poor customer service or unsustainable practices. I would also suggest checking on Gary’s wellbeing, as his behaviour suggested he may have been under strain. That said, the way I was treated was not acceptable. I have contacted Tesco Stores Complaints as I would like a response regarding this issue.

  In just over a year and a half, ill be celebrating my 40th birthday. However, today I was refused a nicotine product because I didnt have ID. The way I see it, there are only 2 possibilities as to why this has just happened. Either I do look under 25 and im blessed with eternal youth OR the guy was just an idiot. I have a beer belly, a face that you can tell has seen some things, and could probably be the 'before' in a Just For Men advert. So my guess, he was just a jobsworth moron. Make sure you bring ID and check with Tesco Corporate to make sure a OAP bus pass is an acceptable form before you visit this store with the intention of buying a +18 product.

  Stayed at the nearby Ibis Budget, arrived late last thursday and needed some food and drinks. This store was the closest, I could see it from my hotelroom window. Got there after 9pm, was greeted by the security person, got the things I needed and wanted to checkout. The security person saw that I was clearly umcomfortable with the self checkout (English not being my native language) and got a staff member to help me. Already gave 5 stars earlier, think it's only fair to explain why I give that rating too.
