What an absolute shambles! Never been to the Griffin before but we decided we'd go out for tea so booked a table for 6.30. The pub wasn't particularly busy so we walked to the bar and were completely blanked by the young blonde girl working behind the bar who needs some serious training in customer service Absolutely no manners at all, she was pulling a couple of pints but looked straight through us, no "I'll be with you in a moment" and no acknowledgement whatsoever. A young man then came out and looked just as vacant at us and when we mentioned we had a table booked, he just nodded to the dining area and said sit where you want. We weren't told whether to order food at the bar or whether someone would take our order from the table, so after 10 minutes with nobody acknowledging us even after we'd sat down, we left. In fact they probably didn't even notice we'd gone. So unfortunately, not a great experience which is a shame because from the reviews, other customers were obviously treated much better. Very disappointing.
So here is my honest review. You cannot get a cleaner pub in the area. Looks great from the outside from the hanging baskets, looks nice and clean when you go inside and beer wise everything tastes beautiful. However, it feels like the owners/brewery are missing out on a huge amount of potential. I come from the old school days of Nikos, £2 double vodkas, free jukebox, free pool, lock-ins and the place bouncing from a Friday to Sunday. I accept those days have gone. But, message to the owners/brewery, you are the only pub in the village of a huge walkable catchment area, and bar the blue anchor you are the only pub worth going to in terms of friendly atmosphere. So why such expensive beer firstly? If the Pentan can drop prices and fill the place, why can't you? Secondly, your food is genuinely extortionate. You want £14 for a lasagne, then £2.49 extra for garlic bread/ £2.99 extra for chips. In the worlds smallest kitchen cooked by I assume not the most qualified chef. Well, at those prices, let's go to the Beaufort. And for even less cost, let's go to the Queens Head, Mold. And judging by tonight on a Friday, you have served maybe 5 meals across the whole afternoon, so clearly that menu is not working. Cut your food cost, get more people in and sell more beer in a place where so many people have so many unbelievable memories. Before, it becomes another cul de sac/Griffin avenue in the next few years.

Well, as someone that eats out regularly and has tried many places around Flintshire it is lovely to find that the Griffin is not only right on my doorstep but, the food is amazing. I found the menu to be a little different, but still the same classics. Too many of our eating places have EXACTLY the same menu. The food was by far the freshest and hotest I have had around Flintshire and Wrexham for a very long time.
I don't lightly make a review, we have tested several items on the menu before finally deciding the Griffin is our favourite rating place in Flintshire and Wrexham.
The only thing I hope for is that either the menu changes regularly or they introduce a specials board for that little extra intrigue.
Thank you for the great food.
Tracie.

A friendly pub, offering fairly a standard selection pub fayre, well executed.
I liked it, and will definitely go again.

Brilliant Pub!
Visited today for my brothers birthday there were 7 of us including 2 children and I cannot recommend enough! The food, staff and prices were just brilliant.
Really tasty food that we all thoroughly enjoyed and the child's meals were a really decent size.
The staff were all really lovely especially the young lad serving our food, very polite and friendly.
Thank you to all the staff we will definitely be back!
