Zizzi on South Street in Saint Andrews, Scotland is a gem of a restaurant! From NYC, I was part of this week’s Classical Guitar Retreat/Festival so Zizzi it’s very conveniently located across from Laidlaw Music Centre (University of St Andrews). My initial intuition was impressed with Zizzi both offering and clearly marking both vegetarian and vegan options.
Vegan Lentil Ragu on the menu caught my attention and it was excellent!
Vegan Lentil Ragu has Du Berry Lentils. Baby plum tomatoes Spinach Genovese pesto Spaghetti. I also ordered and loved the olive dish and side salad.
I had waitress Amy the first of three visits and she was really attentive, friendly and down to earth.
I returned again last night and ordered
the Mediterranean Seabass pan fried Seabass with has Corvette ribbons, baby potatoes, green beans, artichokes fire, roasted red peppers, olives, baby, plum tomatoes, lemon, and herb pangrattato crumb
I also had the olives and side salad again, which was delicious
This time I had dessert; scoop of vegan coconut sorbet, and scoop of vegetarian vanilla ice cream with an espresso.
The supervisors David and Matthew are so attentive, personable, down to earth & accommodating! David was both the host and my server 2/3 times I’ve been here this week and they’re all super cool.
Cara is also super awesome!
I had the Vegan Lentil Ragu both my first and third night here this week and it’s so delicious and well balanced! It has Du Berry Lentils. Baby plum tomatoes, Spinach & Genovese pesto Spaghetti.
Second time I ordered the Mediterranean Seabass pan fried Seabass with
Corvette ribbons, baby potatoes, green beans, artichokes fire, roasted red peppers, olives, baby, plum tomatoes, lemon, and herb pangrattato crumb. An absolute gourmet delight!
I’m impressed & grateful that they are aware and transparent about the capacity of the kitchen and how much time the food will take to be prepared.
And although when I arrived around 5:45 PM without a reservation, I really appreciated that they were very accommodating and I was able to be seated!
Although the vibe is spacious and not crowded, I strongly recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re planning to dine around 5:30pm or 6pm or so.
The layout, decor and atmosphere is so lovely. There is a beautiful fake maple tree under a sky light which really adds to the positive vibe! I also really appreciate the plants colorful wall paintings
They also offer lovely outdoor seating and some extra little cozy tables down by the bar area closer to the door.
I should add they also offer various pizza
the menu with an authentic looking Italian pizza!; so hope to sample their pizza next year when I visit again next year!
I inquired who the chefs are so I can give them a shout out and the acknowledgment they deserve! Thank you chefs Juystna, Paul, Michael Radoslaw and Yurrii for your wonderful, tasty, fine cuisine and splendid presentation! Plus I appreciate you squeezing in a vegan lentil pasta dish for me tonight before I have to perform tonight at Laidlaw Music Centre (University of St Andrews) part of this weeks 2026 Classical, Guitar Retreat/Festival!
Thank you SO much Zizzi, your high-level gourmet cuisine, really cool decor, vibes plus amazing team: David, Mathew, Amy, Cara, Viet and you creative gormet chefs Juystna, Paul, Michael. Radoslaw and Yurii
