Our Outlet shops help tackle food waste while making Greggs food more affordable. At Greggs, a lot of our food is made or baked fresh every day, which means that at the end of trading any unsold items must be removed from our shelves. To reduce waste, as much of this surplus food as possible is sent to our Outlet shops, where it is sold the following day at a discount.
We now have 45 Greggs Outlet shops, offering big savings on day‑old products to support people managing tight household budgets. These openings mean that every one of our food manufacturing sites now has an Outlet shop nearby, allowing us to redistribute surplus food from both our production facilities and our shops more effectively.
Our Outlet shops also play an important role in supporting local communities. A portion of the profits generated are donated to The Greggs Foundation, which then shares this
funding with local charities and community groups. This helps direct money back into initiatives that are working to tackle food poverty and support those most in need.
The food is always a day old. As it is a outlet. Money goes to charity after costs

It's not the easiet to find, and it's also not the greatest neighbourhood or location (sorry, for those who live locally but its true unfortunately).
And when we got there, there were hardly items left, apart from lots of boxes of jam Donuts. The few savour goods that they had left were not really much of a bargain (their bakes were being sold at £2.20) so if the idea really is to get rid of food before it goes off or to waste, this wasn't much of an incentive.
I suspect that rather like the 'good to go' concept, what started off as a good idea, has been highjacked, by the thought of making a profit, rather than reducing food waste.
The whole thing was an unfortunate waste of time.
Perhaps, if you live very locally you're getting a bit of a deal but anyone who's a bit further out is likely to be disappointed when you see whats on offer at this location.
I would advise giving it a miss.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
