- PSPaul Swatton1 day ago5.0Great spot , decent room, v friendly staff , polite and helpful . Nice food . Hint …make sure you enter your car reg now , pub had to install parking restrictions because everyone used it to park and do their shopping etc.
- BLBrendan lemon4 days ago5.0Stopped by the Kings Arms Hotel as I was visiting the area for one week. I went in on the Wednesday night, had 5 pints of Guinness & they were delicious. As good a pint of Guinness as I'd get back home in Ireland. Before I left on Saturday, I called again on the Friday night for a few more Guinness. Staff were helpful, pleasant & happy, which helps for the short time that you're there. I got chatting with some locals & they were friendly also. I will definitely be paying this place a visit in the near future for a few Guinness & maybe try the food the next time. I'd already eaten on both occasions, otherwise I would have. Mountfitchet is a beautiful place & well worth a second visit.

I stopped briefly while the pub was closed (8.30am) and politely asked if I could park in the empty car park for around five minutes to carry out my work. I was met with what I felt was an unnecessarily rude and condescending response of, "No, and if you do I'll slap you with a £100 fine," from who I assume was the landlady. I completely understand that the car park has restrictions and that these rules need to be enforced. I have no issue with being told no. However, I do think there is a way to communicate that politely, particularly when someone has asked a genuine question rather than simply ignoring the restrictions. I was actually considering this pub for my birthday, but unfortunately the interaction has left such a poor impression that I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to others.

The food was also decent pub fayre, my husbands medium steak was exactly as requested and my roast cauli and grain salad vegan dish was nicely done. Meet and greet at the bar was welcoming and helpful.
