  Urgent Complaint: Severe Delays, Staffing Shortages, and Systemic Issues at Tesco Café Harlow (Church Langley) Dear Tesco Customer Care Team, I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding the unacceptable service and operational management at your Harlow Church Langley café. The current system during the school holidays is severely flawed and poorly managed from top to bottom. Paying, regular customers are currently facing absurd wait times of up to an hour just to get a meal, or are being completely turned away because the café is overwhelmed. Below are the primary issues that urgently need to be addressed: 1. Misuse and Lack of Limits on the "Kids Eat Free" Scheme While supporting families is commendable, the current setup allows a single adult with one Clubcard to order free meals for up to an unlimited amount on a single minimal purchase. Group orders of this size completely block the ordering system, flood the kitchen, and prevent regular paying customers from accessing the café. Recommendation: You should restrict free kids' meals strictly to specific peak hours (e.g., between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm) and implement a fair per-adult/per-Clubcard limit on how many free meals can be claimed at once. 1. Kitchen Bottlenecks and Digital Ordering Machines The self-service ordering machines have made the situation worse rather than better. Orders are allowed to pile up without any throttling or real-time kitchen capacity limits, leaving a severely understaffed kitchen with orders completely backed up. 1. Critical Understaffing It is ridiculous to expect just two kitchen staff members to cook and fulfill massive volumes of orders under these conditions. The branch is visibly understaffed for the volume of customers being let in during holiday periods. 1. Commendation Amidst Poor Operations The only redeeming part of being in here at this time currently right now was an off-duty team member named Sarah, who came in on her non-working day with her children and voluntarily started clearing and cleaning tables to help keep the café running. She deserves explicit recognition and a promotion for her dedication, but staff should never be forced to step in voluntarily to keep a poorly run system afloat. The current approach is completely unsustainable, frustrating loyal paying customers, and putting unfair pressure on store staff. I expect this feedback to be escalated to store operations and regional management so meaningful changes are made to how the café and the "Kids Eat Free" policy are run.   Tesco Cafe is a really convenient and pleasant spot to take a break while shopping. The staff are lovely and friendly, always welcoming and happy to help, which makes the experience even better. The cafe itself is very clean and well-kept, creating a comfortable place to sit and relax. The food is good, with a decent range of options that are perfect for a quick meal or snack. Overall, it’s a handy and reliable choice when you’re out shopping—great service, a clean environment, and enjoyable food make it well worth a visit.

  Really enjoyed our visit today . Liked the new ordering system, the food was really lovely today . As a family we all ordered different food and drinks . We were not disappointed . The staff were as friendly as always .
