My husband went for our and my mother in laws shopping on Saturday. Had to call the RAC as battery died but had no charge left on his phone and no service in store and was getting very stressed. The young lad, Harry, on the customer service desk was amazing! Gave him his own phone to use and kept checking he was okay as it was taking ages. A real credit to the store and to his parents for bringing up such a kind young man. Give that lad a raise Tesco!!

Have just bought a bouquet from Dunmow Tesco, as a gift -the choice was limited, but I am extremely disappointed to find the sell by date is 25 th September. I have no time to drive all the way back to Dunmow to get a refund or alternative.

On reflection I feel I need to share this recent experience with Tesco. For many years I have had a Tesco credit card and copiously used it for domestic shopping, exceeding over £10,000 pa, much of which was at Tesco itself. Recently, without warning, they closed the account citing fraudulent activity (I only found out when using the card at Myhills). I am a man of good character and have always paid back dues on the card at the end of each month, which of course avoids interest payments. Moreover, I always check all my accounts daily to ensure all transactions are in order and are as expected, and never have I noticed anything untoward. Therefore I was puzzled by their claim. I did follow this up, firstly with Tesco, then a financial ombudsman and then a freedom of information site. Not that I was unduly concerned about the loss of the card, but their unqualified claim of fraud, which for me was an unacceptable treatment of a customer of long-standing. Apart from getting a lawyer, not unexpectantly, it was like banging my head against a brick wall. However since, I have shopped elsewhere and now do most of my domestic shop at Aldi. Some items such as bread and milk are similar priced, but much is even half price and some items such as cereals are even 1/3 of the price and are just as good eating. Their ice products are also much much cheaper, which has been of good stead for my family these past hot months. Conclusion, Tesco have done me a big favour, though perhaps not in the manner they imagined. I am not going to apologise for the cynicism, but sometimes evils do need to be publically cited and not be kept silent. My one shame is why did I not try Lidl and Aldo earlier?
