  Steak was good, service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I have been visiting for 15 years, the table next to me found a piece of toast and butter under their table from breakfast and we ate at half 7 at night, the "Manager was rude to the point of arrogance when we went to pay for our meal when i presented her with a digital Tasty rewards card that she said she could not scan. I asked about using a rewards for forces discount card she said no(maybe policy has changed but as far as I remember whitbread inns accept that card) when my card was declined through tap and pay she did not even offer me the chance to chip and pin stating flatly that my card was declined, finally it seemed that her most pressing concern was if I used the tip option on the keypad. This was my last time using what was once one of my favourite pub restaurants in the colchester area. AVOID.

  Staff are brilliant highly recommend we have traveled alot of places and this is fare the best for staff and great food staff always polite. One Irish staff member makes this place pleasurable and amusing and is a great team member highly recommend visiting

  Welcomed by I think the manager .an Irishman ,what a lovely welcome and service from start to finish .so friendly and made a lovely change to most restaurants to have someone so nice .thankyou

  Great breakfast! Good quality, well cooked, perfect fried eggs- which unfortunately is not always the case everywhere! It’s not difficult to cook a good fried egg! Why do so many places struggle? Restaurant is clean, well presented and comfortable. Staff are welcoming and friendly, professional with the right attitude. Highly recommend, really enjoyed the food, wide selection of pastries, cereals and fruit. Plenty of choice for the cooked breakfast which is done to order so fresh and tasty.

  The food was grim, cheap ingredients, we only ate a small part of our meal(we had different meals to each other, both grim). It was noisy, the seats were stained, the table was dirty. I asked if it could be cleaned, the woman quickly squirted and wiped the table but the stains from the previous people were still visible and sticky. We would never go back, extremely disappointed
