A rather sweet restaurant. If I gave this a positive review, I can say that because of the popularity, it can get loud when you are trying to speak. You better make a good choice of whatever you want to eat. I love seeing that light on the stairs, it is a ball of lights really. Yeah, point that out.

Today we had a splendid lunch at Zizzi, and very well served and hosted by Izzy! She was very calm, friendly and polite and helped us choose our food. Everything was great, we really enjoyed the Pinoli Pizza- including Goat's cheese, Mozzarella, Caramelised balsamic onions, a bit of Sunblush tomatoes although I didn’t notice the Toasted pine nuts. We also had the Bolognese Classico which included Spaghetti with Slow-cooked British beef & tomato ragu. Our third dish was the Six Layer Lasagne made with egg pasta, Rich beef ragu and Bechamel sauce. A lovely lunch, and we’ll definitely be back again soon.

5/5 stars. I came here for the pasta and left needing a cold shower, a priest, and a new best friend. Let’s get the food out of the way first: absolute perfection. The food was so good it should come with a parental advisory sticker. The dough was hot, the cheese was pull worthy, and the whole meal was a total mouthgasm. But honestly? The food was just the warm-up act. The real showstopper was our waitress, Alex. Ahhh, absolute legend. Alex didn’t just serve us; she blew the roof off the place. She is outrageously awesome, insanely welcoming, and delightfully, unapologetically unhinged in the absolute best way possible. Pure chaotic good energy. The kind of friendly that makes you feel like you’ve been thick as thieves for years, while simultaneously wondering if she’s about to pour limoncello directly down your throat. Alex turned a casual dinner into an absolute ride, and my heart is officially hers—purely platonically, but violently enthusiastic about it. If Zizzi management is reading this: give Alex a massive raise, a trophy, or at least a bottle of tequila for carrying the whole vibe of Chelmsford on her back. Food was filthy good, Alex was a total queen, and I’m 100% coming back to get corrupted by the good vibes all over again.

We chose Zizzi for my husband’s birthday because it’s somewhere we normally go to celebrate special occasions, so unfortunately this experience was extremely disappointing. We waited over an hour for our food, with no proper explanation or apology for the delay. We ordered the Primavera pizza, which has always been one of our favourites, but what we received was completely different from what we have had before. The dough was extremely thin and full of holes, almost like eating paper, and the pizza had very little topping. It felt more like a basic Margherita than the Primavera we know and enjoy, which is normally generously topped with ingredients such as artichokes. The Pollo Piccante also arrived cold and was nothing like what we had previously experienced at ZiZi. What made the situation even worse was the service. Our waitress did not apologise or properly check on us after the food arrived. She simply disappeared. I had to go inside the restaurant myself to ask for water for my son, and later had to go inside again to ask for the bill. After already waiting so long, we just wanted to leave. Unfortunately, the interaction with Alex, who told us she was the manager, made the experience even more unpleasant. Her attitude towards us was extremely rude and confrontational. When I asked for the bill, she responded in a sarcastic and dismissive manner, saying, “I’m serving food, is that alright?” When I explained that we were unhappy with our experience and asked to speak to the manager, she said, “I am the manager,” but continued speaking to us in a very impolite and argumentative way rather than listening to our concerns. A birthday that was supposed to be a special and memorable occasion became a very disappointing experience. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but what matters is how staff handle those mistakes. We expected some basic courtesy, an apology, and an attempt to make things right. Instead, we felt completely ignored and spoken to disrespectfully. I genuinely hope Zizzi provides better training and support to its staff, particularly those in managerial positions. Alex’s behaviour was not appropriate for someone representing the restaurant as a manager. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will think twice before choosing Zizzi for another special occasion.

Disappointing experience. Food is very overpriced and just okay. Service was incredibly slow even though there were only 2 tables when we were there. We waited over 45 minutes for a small dessert to come out, I had to go and ask where it was. No one checked on us or took plates away etc. Won’t be returning!
