  The replacement for the ginger chicken udon, a chicken and prawn udon, is not as good. Now has mushrooms and some shavings of something. I asked for no prawns, told get more chicken, and it had far less than the original dish, which cost less. A friend also had to wait until mine and had came and whole table finished. No table number written down either for us to pay quickly. Staff were great though! Queue out the door, upstairs empty - employ more people maybe?

  I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience at the Basildon Wagamama was extremely disappointing. We arrived at around 9:15 pm and were seated without anyone mentioning that the kitchen would be closing or that there was a last-order time. We ordered our starters first and, when we were ready to order our mains, we were told the kitchen was closed. The restaurant itself closes at 10:00 pm, so naturally we assumed we still had time to order. What was most frustrating was the attitude of the manager. Instead of apologising or acknowledging that no one had informed us about the kitchen closing at 9:45 pm, he expected us to somehow know this ourselves. He was dismissive, rude, and even asked us to leave. Unfortunately, the poor service started from the moment we arrived. Our waitress was unfriendly throughout the evening, and when we raised our concerns, she was equally rude and showed no empathy or apology. To make matters worse, this was my uncle’s birthday celebration. We ended up leaving without having our mains, which completely ruined what was supposed to be a special evening. A simple warning when we were seated or while ordering our starters would have avoided this entire situation. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and unprofessional attitude from both the waitress and the manager made this one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had. I won’t be returning to this branch.

  Went this evening for my best mates birthday. We all ordered and two of four meals came through as we asked. We got both the incorrect meals replaced for what we asked for. After enjoying the food I asked if something could be done about the orders that came through wrong initially. After 5 or so minutes the waitress Becca came back to our table and said they had removed the order that came through incorrectly and the order that was put through “correctly” but we asked to be replaced. We took the sarky comment on the chin and went to pay, we found that one of the incorrect meals were not removed and two of the cheaper meals were removed. We will definitely be going to Lakeside or Chelmsford next time.
