Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Grumpy girl serving. Just dumped the food on the counter! Ran out of milk halfway through making the coffee, no apologie for having to wait. Bacon was cold in the bap. Terrible service!

Ordered a strawberry cooler. I got given a cherry. Young lad was rude and said it’s been made not there problem due to it being busy. Cold food constantly not even warm.

Great food and even better service. I visit nearly every day and special mention to Helen who always greets me with a warm welcome and have a bit of a chat as well. Service like that does really go the extra mile!

Genuinely awful selection of food, visited at midday after a trip to B&Q, hoping to pick up a pizza, steak bake and possibly a sausage roll, only to find they had a few (stale and cold, I unfortunately discovered) “chicken” rolls and vegan rolls, and really not that much else, was told to wait at least 10 mins for just the pizza, let alone anything else I came in for. The shop in the high street is so much better, it’s always full and there’s always a queue, but food is always fresh, meanwhile this one has I assume has much less foot traffic, so there isn’t really an excuse for having absolutely minimal stock at lunch time. PS, I wouldn’t recommend the Chicken roll

Aside from the fact they only had two veggie sausage rolls (wanted 4 for the family) they do not provide a dairy alternative for coffee. Apparently the allergy risk is too high 🤷♀️

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
