About

BakeryGreggs
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Bake Mistake - ordered online. These geniuses substituted a cheese and onion bake with a chicken bake. I'm vegetarian and didn't realise until I bit into it. Usually, I'm suspicious of this kind of thing, so tend to check by opening the pastry first, but I'm unwell at the moment so I wasn't as diligent as I usually am. The bake was also freezing cold/solid. Thanks Greggs for breaking my 25-year long vegetarianism. Disgusting. Edit: I've since spoken to a Greggs agent on X/Twitter. They sent me some vouchers to apologise and passed on my feedback to the area manager. I can't fault this response, but I'm leaving the above as is because this incident upset me. Greggs has decent veggie options and is convenient. It's a shame that on this occasion, the store colleague that collated the order ignorantly substituted the bake. Greggs have procedures in place to avoid bake mix ups so I believe the cheese and onion bake was likely out of stock and so was substituted "like-for-like". Store colleagues have to realise that this isn't truly like-for-like - chicken is not a suitable substitute for cheese and onion. I've since learned that the bakes all have different patterns on the pastries so I know to check this going forward as I've always been dubious of getting the wrong filling. In around 30 years, I've never had a problem until now. I'm not sure if I will order from this particular branch again, but I'll still be a Greggs customer because they listened to my complaint and made me feel valued.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
