We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.
Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Staff and drinks are consistently great - as an example the young man behind the till was holding the fort under pressure of an increasing 8+ people line & he made sure to take time to make the drinks perfectly whilst also keeping the people waiting engaged and feeling seen (rare customer service skill these days) and that avoided people leaving and lead to a good vibe.

When my turn to pay she said to me 'if next time you can wait over there and wait for me to call, that's why I am shouting for people to come here'. What's the point of saying that to a customer? The shop has not a queue system if not staff shouting so there are no signs people could follow. Also I was simply queuing for paying and she wanted me to wait at the opposite sites where people are queuing for food?!?!?! I was about to answer her : "don't worry after today there won't be a next time.". Rude

I was tryin a get the pin from the person who gave the card to me and she said just to take it. I asked her after I get it I will pay back but she said no worries. Just amazing

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
