We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

Even if you come as early as 10:40/10:45 you won't get it - probably cause staff doesn't like to do it, so they shut it as early as they possibly can. Also, as mentioned in earlier negative feedback: staffing issues - that is - manager seems to have anger issues - hence staff is being replaced so often. Avoid

I clearly said “thank you” when I received my change, but the staff member (an older lady) suddenly raised her voice at me, accusing me of not saying thank you. I was shocked because I had already said it. When she handed me the receipt, I politely said “thank you” again, yet she continued shouting at me in front of my client, insisting I hadn’t said it. I even calmly explained to her that I had already thanked her twice, but she kept arguing and speaking to me in a very rude and aggressive tone. This behaviour was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. I felt embarrassed and disrespected, especially as a customer simply trying to be polite. The way she spoke to me made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and honestly, it came across as very hostile and unfair. No customer deserves to be treated like that, especially over something so small. Staff should be trained to communicate respectfully instead of shouting at customers without reason. Very poor customer service. I will not be returning

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
