  I visited the store this afternoon (Monday 15th June '26) to pick up a few things. I am a wheelchair user and consequently have difficulty reaching items both high and low on shelves. I am conscious not to bother staff collecting online orders as I know they have a deadline to keep, so mostly I ask other customers for their help. Today I was approached by a member of staff called Greg who without prompting asked if i was ok and could he help me get anything. I said I just wanted a few things and he offered to accompany me around the store to get them. While talking to me he did an incredible thing...he came down to my level so we could talk face to face. Having explained I have a metal cage in my neck and other metal work in my spine, this simple kind gesture made such a difference for me. Mentally I felt considered and physically it was a lot less painful not having to continuinely look up at him. This is not a one off experience with Greg, although he didn't recall I told him he'd extended this courtesy to me twice before in different parts of the store. I cannot express enough how wonderful this made me feel and the difference it makes to anyone like me. We don't want sympathy but being ignored doesn't make us feel human. The only way you can know the difference a little acknowledgement and kindness makes to a disabled shopper is to experience it yourself. I really commend Greg's humanity and sense of inclusiveness and hope he gets to at least read of my gratitude. Kind Regards Lesley Greenwell

  What a huge supermarket with several small unit retailers placed inside. Great idea. Good product range, well laid out store and a good café too.

  Used to be so good. Now is a shill and lazy store. No more hot food section. No more special counters. Tiny bakery and fish section. Just greggs and h&b. Far cry from a tesco it once was

  Poor experience at this store, several items not on the shelves, Cooke meat chiller section full of empty boxes with product scattered everywhere poor selection in freezer section, Consett is a much better store, well stocked and tidy shelves. Mr Davison

  Was in here yesterday morning and there was a young boy having a seizure on the self pay area. The female manager who eventually turned up couldn't have looked less bothered if she tried! I hope the child was ok in the end.
