  Saw something today that honestly really upset me. There was this young girl working in the basket area and an older lady started shouting at her, asking her what she was doing and just being really rude to her. It made me think how people forget we were all young once and had to work our way up too. She was literally just doing her job. I wish I’d gone over and said something or even given her a hug, but she left before I could. I really hope she’s okay. No one deserves to be spoken to like that.

  I popped into Tesco and used the trolley self checkout. Twice I needed the assistant as my items didn’t register. The second time I was a little annoyed but when the assistant came over and fixed it, he made a fake punching gesture to the screen, it made me laugh and forget I was annoyed. The first time he noticed I had alcohol and said let’s put one of those through first save you needing me to come back. He also greeted me very nicely, warm and friendly. Then he was helping an elderly couple and he hung around to have a chat with them whilst he had free time. His name was Ben and quite honestly he’s the loveliest and most proactive member of staff in Tesco’s!

  Shocking lack of produce. Four items I wanted were not in stock. Shelves looked like they had been the victim of a frenzied attack. Staff stood around having a chat and being otherwise vacant. If ever you were worried that your milk may not be sour enough fear not, this shop sells pre split, gone off milk. Terrible.

  I used the self-checkout around 7:30 AM on Sat 11 Jul. There was an issue with it and I was prompted to seek assistance; I looked around and saw plenty of shoppers but no staff so I pressed ‘call for assistance’ and looked around again for a few seconds. It turns out the rude employee dressed not in Tesco uniform but in shorts and a shirt fit for someone on a jaunt in the Caribbean was hiding somewhere in the middle, completely unidentifiable unless you stood next to him staring at his lanyard. He walked on over without looking at or acknowledging me as though I’d upended his day, walked to the self-checkout to address the problem, and then with his back turned walked away without uttering a single word; I uttered “thanks” as he walked away and even then he didn’t in the slightest pretend I was ever there. When leaving I walked past this plain clothes employee having a conversation with yet another presumed female employee, also in plain clothes. Every other staff member in the shop was dressed in uniform. If he’s a manager that’s pathetic and he shouldn’t see the shop floor until after midnight.
