I have been a delivery driver for Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat for over 5 years, and have collected hundreds of orders from this Co‑op store. Normally, orders are left in the designated collection area, and we follow a set process: first scan the Deliveroo tag to get the order number, then scan the order number on the bag to mark it and start the journey.
Today my order was ready in its usual spot. I completed both required scans, then looked for a staff member — no one was visible at first. I went to the back of the store where a member of staff was picking orders, and told her I was there to collect my order. I explained I had done all the necessary scans and showed her the order number to confirm everything was correct. Another driver had already collected their order and left using the same method.
Instead of listening, she spoke to me in a very loud and aggressive tone, saying I should not mark it as collected before speaking to her. She even said “you wouldn’t do this at McDonald’s” — but every store works differently. Co‑op, Asda and even McDonald’s often leave orders out for drivers to collect this way.
I have worked on these apps since 2021 and hold a 99% satisfaction rating — I know the correct procedures. I did not leave without telling her; I made sure she was aware and showed her proof. Customers nearby started looking at me, making me feel as though I had done something wrong.
I understand it is busy, especially in this hot weather — but it is just as difficult for us drivers working and delivering in 35°C heat. A little respect goes a long way, and there was no need to raise your voice or make a scene.

Stop in regularly after being to the fish store over the road. Availability is okay, and staff are generally friendly although some not so much. Prices in co-op are a little ridiculous these days, but that's reflective of the company not just this store.

Staff decent and friendly, prices very expensive but do have good deals from time to time, theft is a massive problem with no security present.

Poorly managed. No security, constant theft and the poor shop floor staff left to mamage on their own with no support from other members of staff while busy.
