First time at ask Italian & I must say I am super impressed The food was unbelievable, specific shout out to the Calamari 😍 , small portion was huge as-well The service was very very good!, we was in, seated, drinks, starter, main and dessert all under 50 minutes, Shout out to Phil at the merryhill store who served us, read the room really good, didn’t feel like he was over our shoulder the whole time, but got around asking if the food was okay, took orders promptly & cleared the table through courses. Thank you! Lastly the sticky coffee pudding, that’s something else!! Highly recommend & will be returning!

Had a great meal consisting of 2 lasagnas, a portion of chips and mozzarella garlic bread. The food was brought to our table without undue delay and was piping hot! The lasagnas were delicious as was the garlic bread, and while I felt that the chips were slightly overdone, they were tasty. We were served by Phil, who ensured that we were happy with our food. Not too busy when we ate, so the waiting staff were not rushing about stressed. Will definitely eat here again.

First time at ask italian in merry hill, was not expecting a perfect visit, but this restaurant was different, very deserving of a 5 star review. perfectly cooked n'duja tagliatelle, quiet front of house which i like with fast and courteous service from phil. the ONLY downside was my meal could have been spicier but that is just personal preference. my partner had the seafood linguini which looked amazing also, and to top it off i got a free lemon meringue sundae, happy days. Didnt take a pic of the mains but i got one of the sundae

Went tonight. The hospitality from the staff was great. Friendly polite etc etc. Starters came, no issues, bit of a delay no big issue. Mains came, big delay took ages. Well the rissoto is a first ive ever seen, made with pasta instead of rice. When this was brought to the attention of the staff they offered to replace it urgently but given the wait fir the mains we said leave it. Not great, didnt even get the food we wanted. Then we ordered 3 x sides with the mains. Didn't come at all until we'd eaten, waited another 10 mins and then they had realised they hadn't even cooked them yet. Polite management again took them off the bill and gave us them to take away. Not the point really. First time ever going to an ask italian and last. Ill be honest watching the restaurant operate which was half empty it was quite clear to me deliveries took precedent over in store diners. And there were issues in other tables and via phone as we could hear complaints. Its quite obvious the issue is with the kitchen staff not having a clue what they are doing. Much improvement needed for any future guests

The restaurant has a very attractive setup with tasteful decor and a pleasant overall atmosphere. The first waiter was excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional, which set a very positive tone at the start of the visit. I was also poured two complimentary small shots as part of the experience, which was a nice gesture, although I did not personally have them. Unfortunately, the pizza itself was a mixed experience. The toppings were well cooked, however the base in the centre felt slightly underdone and moist. The seasoning was also significantly heavier than expected, to the point where it overpowered the other flavours and made the pizza difficult to enjoy. It felt as though a salt shaker had been emptied onto the pizza and I struggled to eat it. When asked during the meal, I initially said everything was fine due to the very friendly service, but on reflection I want to be honest that the food quality did not fully match the standard of the environment or the service. Service became less consistent later in the visit with a second member of staff who appeared quite rushed despite the restaurant being quiet. On one occasion, a policy explanation was given in a way that felt unclear and condescending. It was not necessary and made me feel uncomfrotable. The restaurant was clean and the table presentation was good, however during this period several tables remained uncleared, which gave a slightly unkempt impression of the floor management. Overall, the restaurant has strong points in its atmosphere and initial service, but the experience was let down by inconsistency in service and a main dish that did not meet expectations. There is ample free parking and being in Merry Hill you can spend time shopping on the same visit. I would suggest you don't allow the cordial service and complimentary shots disuade you from being honest about the food quality. I regret not telling them I found the pizza close to inedible. For that reason I am awarding one star as being fair and appropriate.
