Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Very unpleasant service. We were told that no hot meals are served, so we had to settle for cold dishes. Honestly, it’s the first Greegs place where I’ve experienced something like this. This happened today at 10:15. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Unfortunately I felt the staff who was serving is racist, as I walked in she was pretty blunt. I ordered a coffee and 2 hot items. The hot items would take around 10 minutes so I advised I’ll have the coffee now and I’ll wait 10 minutes for the Pizza and Pasty.
She charged me for coffee alone which works out a lot more expensive. I wanted to pay for all the items as it would work out cheaper due to meal deal, she refused. As the coffee was brewing I felt obliged to pay for it. She said come back in 10 minutes for your other items and then pay for them.
As soon as non ‘coloured’ customers where to be served, she was a lot more polite and assisted them as one should be assisted.
After waiting 10 minutes, the Pasty was ready but she never put in a fresh Pizza, which I clearly stated I wanted. There was a different server. I ended up fuming as I payed more, I had to wait and I never received the order I wanted. At that point I accepted the pasty and walked away.
What I have learnt from this visit is this particular server treats customers differently based on their appearance.
She could have easily mentioned it will be cheaper to pay for all the items in 10 minutes which I would have done.
Anyways it’s cost me more money than it did which is fine. But the lack of customer service which I noted based on race and then seeing non coloured customers get treated as they should baffled me.

Yet again no sausage rolls in display counter, I call at least twice a week and this is a regular problem. I offered to wait the ten minutes and pay for 1 coffee and two sausages but had to pay more money for the coffee only . Never had this problem at Kingstown carlisle

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
