  It's always a bit of a lottery when visiting this shop. The majority of the staff are friendly and welcoming however the current manager can only be described as civil, no please or thank you when being served at the till, on the plus, at least this manager does serve unlike the last one who always finished their current task before serving. Stopped picking up more than basics as I've previously found special offers end at the shelf edge ticket and often not on the till, resulting in having to ask for a receipt or watch the register display like a hawk. Some of the prices are higher than the farm shop in the next village. Stock control can be somewhat lacking - always an excess of blue top milk but always running out of red top. As said, it's a bit of a lottery if they have what you need - considering most families supermarket shop at the weekend it's still not advisable to try and get milk or bread on a Sunday night here. Having the post office open long hours and on Sunday's is really convenient however, what's the point of the cash machine if it's 'currently out of order' most of the time - very inconvenient when you just want to pop in for some cash and there are queues at both counters. Like most village stores, convenience comes at a cost which I wouldn't object to provided the service and availability were a bit better.

  Have complained to Post Office about staff on Post Office counter talking to staff in main shop at the same time as 'serving' me. May have cost me £1,800 pounds as they didn't provide the product I asked for. Have asked Post Office to suspend operations at this branch immediately. It gets better ! After my review I have to note... On the 18th October I bought a bottle of wine from this store at 19.39 and was charged £9.20. I note that Spar Silverton processed a second payment at 12.56 for the same amount the next day when I never even went in their store ! I ask the owner to respond and supply cctv footage of this second alleged visit. Please fell free to post it here to contradict me. And just realised that they give the same sad answer to poor reviews...AI at it's best ! 12th October 2025 The store has closed early. I have no idea why the people of Silverton accept such poor service. Update 21/01/2026 Store closed early again. I think the fact that I am the only person who comments says something about Silverton. 14th March 2026...Once again the shop has closed early. I was passing by and just had to read the sign on the door.

  I have always found the staff friendly - I have also seen they have got a lot of time to help people, especially with their customers who can find shopping a little overwhelming so they get 5 stars just on that basis. Has a post office - which is fantastically useful. Has fresh meat and veg. But, sadly it is a small shop so stock & variety can be limited and it isn't cheap, but given size and location is certainly reasonable.

  Good selection for a corner store, super opening hours (until 10pm 7 days a week), friendly and helpful staff. The Spar brand products are good value. Local butcher a super bonus! Silverton is lucky to have this one.
