  Had lovely lunch with friends at this charming pub - Michelle and Martyn were really friendly and the food was great! Would recommend to anybody who fancies visiting a fabulous old Devon pub!

  Needed a short break glad we stayed here, traditional pub with a wonderful landlady nothing too much trouble, good food in the evening and lovely fresh cooked breakfast , We would stay again.

  We stayed here for two nights. Friday and Saturday night. On arrival we were asked if we were ok with the lock to our room not working. If it was one night, we probably would've been ok, but leaving our belongings in the room. But anyway, they did replace the lock and we had a very nice evening meal and a very nice breakfast the next morning. Now if it was just that, then this review would be different. We returned that evening around 9:00 and they asked us what time we wanted breakfast and what we wanted. We told them 8:30, then went to bed. The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast at 8:30 only to find the bar restaurant locked up and another resident waiting. They needed an early start as they had an appointment at 9:00. We had a long journey that day. Eventually the chef turned up at 9:00. He let us in to the restaurant/ bar area asked us what room. We told him and he went off to start cooking breakfasts. He made the other guest a sandwich to takeaway and apologised. He said he had not had notice of our order. While we waited other guests came down and took their seats. Eventually he came out with what he thought was our breakfast, but it was the last guest down who were still waiting to be seated. The chef carried on bringing out other guests orders while we still waited. In that time a couple of other staff appeared and we could hear the chef cussing and complaining the nothing was sorted for him. He also ran out of eggs. By this time we had had enough so we spoke to one of the staff and asked when we were going to get our breakfast. They did apologise, but they did have a christening to go to, we said that there were no biscuits on arrival in the room and nothing was replenished on the Saturday, again they apologised and asked if we wanted to see the owner, they disappeared. Then someone came in carrying eggs and we eventually got our breakfast at 10:00 an hour and a half later. It was very disappointing, everything being over cooked. It felt as if no one cared. We hoped that someone would have got back to us even after filling out a feed back from, but we haven't heard anything. If they were just starting out then we could've appreciated that, but growth comes with care and attention to detail. I don't think we can recommend the Exeter Inn if we are asked.
