Total disappointment. We chose this place for our first night's dinner because the menu published online looked amazing with a lot of great fish options and some genuinely fantastic sounding dishes. But the moment we sat down and saw the real menu, we were so disappointed. It read like frozen pub food from a wholesaler catalog - zero effort or inspiration. When we asked about it, the waitress was incredibly rude and smugly told us they haven’t updated the website in years. They didn't even have a drinks menu, just a verbal option of "a white wine, a pink, or a red."
We didn’t bother staying to see how bad the food would be. We just got up and walked out.

Disgusting how they keep ducks trapped in a small cage day and night on the road side out the front of the pub/ restraunt.
What wicked people.

the food here was AMAZING! I had the Korean chicken burger and my dad had the double cheese and both were great! The service was also perfect - thank you to Tace!

Popped into the Exeter inn for my partners birthday (27/05/26) really nice meal. He had the burger and I had the Caesar salad and the meals were lovely. I haven’t been here for a few years now but must say the staff (Billie, Tace & Elizabeth) were all really nice and friendly. From first walking in to getting our last drinks they were lovely. We stayed a little longer just admiring the peace and quiet. Thankyou for an amazing evening.

We were asked to book a breakfast time slot on arrival, so we selected 8:30–9:00. However, when we went down that morning, all the doors were locked and there was no staff present. We tried every contact number provided, including the delivery and service numbers advertised, but received no answer or callback.
This was extremely disappointing, particularly as we needed to leave promptly. In the end, we had no choice but to leave at 9:30 without breakfast and return the keys through the letterbox.
We were also concerned to see ducks being kept in what appeared to be a pop-up laundry basket in the car park. It was overcrowded, and the animals could barely move. This raised serious welfare concerns.
In addition, the upstairs corridors had a very unpleasant smell, and our room (Brook) felt run down. The bathroom floor and shower area were covered in small beard trimmings, which suggests it had not been cleaned properly.
Although the staff we briefly encountered at check-in were pleasant, the overall experience was poor. I also attempted to make contact later regarding the breakfast issue and checkout, but again received no response.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend staying here.
