A charming coastal pub nestled along the esplanade of the Devonshire town of Sidmouth.
Our outside dining is the perfect oasis for any passing visitor or returning local to take in views of the beautiful Jurassic coast.
Loved this little gem of a place on the sea front.
We were so lucky to get a last minute table on a Saturday evening - we're so glad we walked in on the off chance.
The team on front of house were brilliant... my kids commented a few times how lovely they all were (one of my boys is in full teendom, so any positivity towards another person is exceptionally high praise)
The food was superb. We had an ENORMOUS seafood platter which was delicious, and some excellent calamari. The chocolate brownie was seriously another level.
Unfortunately, we don't live locally. I wish we did. Highly recommend.

I visited The Marine yesterday. It was very busy, and unfortunately it felt like there simply weren’t enough staff on duty. They were basically running around trying to keep up.
I was given the menu but wasn’t told about the chef’s specials or the fish dishes, which I only found out about because I asked myself.
My fish and chips were freshly cooked, but unfortunately they were completely lacking in flavour — very disappointing.
The restaurant also felt extremely hot, loud and overcrowded, which made the whole experience rather uncomfortable.
Sadly, I won’t be returning.

What a find this was! Excellent service by friendly, efficient and welcoming staff plus superb food. Husband ordered the fish and chips and says they were the best he can remember. I decided on the trio of fish with parmentier potatoes and lemon butter and caper sauce. It was utterly delicious - this is a chef who really knows how to cook fish! Thank you The Marine, this made our day! Laying on a partial eclipse as we left was a nice touch too. 😘

Our server Rob was very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes on offer and made us feel very welcome. The food is locally sourced using Sidmouth Trawlers for fresh fish , Clinton Devon estates for venison and Goosemoor for seasonal produce. Extensive menu with fresh fish, pizzas, salads, belly pork and chef’s specials.
Great view of the seafront and sunset.

Pizza with a sea-view. We wanted to enjoy the perfect warm summer evening by the sea, so we popped over from Honiton for Pizza at the Marine on the Esplanade. We had booked a table, but luckily when we arrived an outside table was free so we took that, though of course you can't run a tab out there, and ajacent tables may include smokers. Sadly the excellent large roller-blind awning which used to protect customers from the sun has been removed, and replaced by a couple of parasols, but at 6:30 pm it wasn't a problem as the setting sun was already behind Peak Hill, and we were able to comfortably enjoy the sea-view and watch the world go by. To get a better balance of Pizza Toppings we chose Garden Pizzas and added Chorizo and Pepperoni on top. Our meal arrived promptly and was truly delicious, the bases were fresh, thin and crispy, and the toppings plentiful. A cold pint of Timothy Taylor and a good Cappuccino to follow completed the picture. All the inside tables were fully occupied, so Online Booking is advisable. There weren't many staff on duty, but they were very helpful and worked their socks off. Tip - At the end we told our server that we had thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas, but that we had struggled to cut them as their cutlery wouldn't cut the skin on a rice-pudding. He replied that in future we should ask for steak knives. We completed our evening by watching the very entertaining Sidmouth Steppers Morris Dancers, and then the recovery of the Lifeboat using their new ultra-modern tractor. There is always something to see in Sidmouth and it is perfectly safe at any time of the day.
