Booked table inside via a telephone robot. Sat down within a couple of mins flood from ceiling make me a little wet, there was no rush to sort this out, with no apology.
Meal delivery was promt and food ok. Moved to outside ( didn't want to get wet again ! )
Went to order the ice cream deal on menu , was advised by young lad that I couldn't order this for outside as was glass bowel.
I asked for clarification as pint glasses was OK. He advised that he couldn't clarify. Asked to speak to someone who could clarify.
He went away and came back explaining they were different menu's.
I don't come to a restaurant to get wet or lied to.
Staff don't appear to care and are unhelpful.

Stopped for a drink ended up staying for food, which was lovely. Very pleasant little pub on a lovely village. Would recommend!

Disappointing to be forced to leave a bad review as I normally prefer to just not return and go elsewhere. However, as this has happened on 3 occasions and also to family members who have visited I feel the need to leave it. One member of staff particularly has a terrible attitude and is consistently confrontational. The lady behind the bar with red hair. There is a way to talk to people which she clearly has mastered yet. I will add, I have never had a problem with any other of the staff or the pub itself which are all lovely. But with this being a reoccurring issue I no longer feel the need to spend my money in a business just to be spoken to like dirt.

Great foods, great dudes, and no rudes
The location is excellent, a short walk from the youth hostel and located in the centre of everything.
I felt the atmosphere was extremely warm, welcoming, and family-friendly.
The food was delicious - sausages, mash, gravy and peas especially recommended, the gravy is out of this world! The brownie was brilliant, the sticky toffee pudding was superb, and the dirty burger was delectable.
Sam was by far the best waiter in the entire galaxy, making us feel beyond welcome with his friendly demeanour. Jack was very helpful too.
For the high quality of food and drink, the value is fabulous, and the wait time was perfectly reasonable given the volume of our order - enough time for a decent conversation.
Overall, the Devonshire is clearly the go-to pub in the Western White Peak Area, would definitely come again!

Came in today for food and drinks as was in Hartington for the day out with my mother. As soon as we entered the manager asked if i’d had a nice day and I said yes fine thanks. Without hesitation after that the man who served our drinks said “are you not going to ask if I’ve had a nice day?. Sorry but this really came across as quite rude as I didn’t even get chance to ask or have any conversation before the comment came. We were nothing but nice to you albeit brief as we weren’t there long as of course we went elsewhere after our drinks and didn’t bother with the food. What’s the need for that kind of comment ? It’s just not how you talk to your paying customers. We are your guests, not the other way round. Very weird vibes as well. It’s a shame really, the place used to be nice I’d visited when I was younger. Obviously that’s changed.
