Our pub is a truly traditional inn right in the heart of the picturesque Peak District town of Bakewell, aside the square in the town’s centre.
The Red Lion offers great food, including breakfast and brunch, and a full range of drinks, including a range of cask ales and premium gins.
Outside, The Courtyard is just off the square in Bakewell town centre and provides a comfy outdoor space.
We also have five cosy double rooms with en-suite facilities, providing visitors with a fantastic opportunity to stay in a traditional English pub, right in the centre of Bakewell itself.

Visited the Pub at 2pm, was told we couldn't order food until 2.30pm, we ordered drinks and was looking at the menus to make our choices like everyone else in what was becoming a packed pub... We joined the queue at 2.30pm to order the food... Our turn at 2.40pm to be told no more food orders...
Felt cheated...
Very disappointed 😞

Went to bakewell today with my sister and went into the red lion for lunch .we waited a ridiculous amount of time for it to arrive. And when it did it wasn't worth the wait one of my old socks probably would have tasted better

We spent one Sunday night at the Red Lion, which we felt overall was long enough. Fantastic central location. We used disabled parking so we were quite close. The staff were friendly. We were greeted at 3.45pm, checked in easily and shown to our room. We were told that the last food orders were at 4.15pm. On entering the room with holdals and shoping bags, it was a bit akward and tight as there was a table outside the door (no purpose other than an a place for the artificial squirting smelly -which there were a few on the landing) and on entering a freestanding clothes rail. A fan was provided as it was very hot. There was tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits in the room plus a selection of items for breakfast left in a basket; porridge pots, breakfast biscuits, orange juice - great idea as there is no hot breakfast available. The room overall was clean and comfortable, however the bathroom needs a good clean and minor maintenance. After 9pm when the pub shuts and on leaving in the morning, you have to use the steep steel stairs out the back, not ideal. We ordered two meals at 4.10pm. We went to sit down in the left hand side of the pub, but the smell of stale urine from the toilets engulfed the whole side - it stank - so we moved the the right side of the pub. Our meal took over 40 minutes to arrive, there was only us at this point waiting for food. We ordered a £30 mixed grill, we looked on in disbelief at the tiny piece of chicken and steak (ordered rare) were cooked till they were dry and burnt along with pretty much everything else on the plate. We sent it back, got a refund and went across the road to another pub (forgotten what it's called) the food was lovely.
