Booked a table at the Devonshire for my Mums 70th . Placed a message on to request a dog friendly table. We were shown to the restaurant. 5 mins later we were asked to leave, being told dogs can only be in the restaurant until 4pm. The waitress dealt with this the best she could and said she had spoken to her manager when asked why we were not informed. We then had to do eat in the bar, which was ok bit not what we had planned. They also did not have drinks such as a zinfandel, which is pretty basic fro a pub! There has been a change of ownership and clearly not for the better, the menu was average. It used to have fantastic food. Such a shame!

I had high hopes for the Sunday roast here but was sadly unimpressed. The portion size was small, the beef tough and the vegetables overcooked. Not really worth £20 imo. The staff were nice and the place itself looked good though. It would have been good if the wifi was working because there is no phone signal to be had there

Such a wonderful warm welcome, not only by the owner and staff, but even by a couple of regular locals.. We stopped on a whim as we needed a cold drink on a warm day and was not dissapointed.. Thank you for making us, including our little dog Popcorn feel welcome..

Well... I think I've found a pub that's officially broken me! The Devanshaw Arms is one of the friendliest places I've visited. The owner was absolutely brilliant, the staff were all so welcoming, and the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and full of smiles from the moment we walked through the door. They're also pet-friendly, which is lovely. We didn't bring a dog, but if we'd borrowed one, I'm convinced it would have been welcomed with open arms too! Now for the biggest shock of the day... I actually finished my entire meal! Anyone who knows me knows that's practically unheard of. Normally I leave enough on my plate to feed a small village, but this food was far too good to waste. I kept saying, "Just one more bite," until suddenly... the plate was cleaner than my kitchen after a deep clean! The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were spot on, and the service couldn't have been better. If you're after great food, fantastic staff, a genuinely friendly atmosphere, and a pub where everyone—including four-legged visitors—is made to feel at home, then this is the place. We'll definitely be back... although next time I may need someone to roll me out of the door afterwards! I hope that gave the kitchen a laugh as much as it did me! 😄

Travelled as two couples (plus dog) for a birthday treat and some walking and we had an absolute blast! The staff were all wonderful and a credit to the establishment, but top marks must go to Emily who checked us in, showed us to our rooms and looked after us from the minute we arrived to the moment we went to bed. Thank you Emily. The food and the wine list was well above the average pub standard, we can particularly recommend both the Cornish sole and the monkfish curry. The breakfast menu was also a notch up, of course there was the ubiquitous 'full english' but I treated myself to smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and it was all freshly cooked. The rooms were clean, smart and well decorated and the beds were extremely comfortable, we all slept like logs! This is a great pub with rooms and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!
