We stopped for lunch on a Monday afternoon and were not let down.We didn't have to book(I think it will be different at peak times). The fish and chips went down well.My mum and wife loved the flat iron chicken and the steak pie and chips was amazing(bigger portion please)! Good selection of drinks. The bar man was very friendly.Lovely shaded beer garden at the back.Parking over the bridge opposite to the left.We will be coming back!

Nice pub for a few evening drinks. Situated on the main road. Enjoyable food and reasonable drinks too. Would visit again if in the area although does have some competition.

Stayed here for night. Great hikes from the door step. Staff were amazing. Rooms very comfortable. Beds were soft. Windows are single glazed so can be noisy as it's right on the street in the middle of the town. Might be an issue if you are a light sleeper. Very clean but bathrooms could do with a little maintain. The pub has a lovely feeling to it. I had dinner and breakfast here (at a separate/additional cost) and they were both very good. Great variety. Things to be aware of/improve *No hotel parking but there is a car park across the road £8.50 for 24 hours overnight parking *Beds and pillows are very soft. Like fluffy clouds *Noise from street and pub but the location is central and perfect for hiking and convenient for amenities *Light in bathroom could be improved I would highly recommend this place

The roast dinner was terrible. The chicken was a dry breast baked in the oven - not 'roast' chicken. The gravy I'm pretty sure was ah bisto (not homemade). The 'pigs in blankets' which we paid extra for were 3 cheap sausages and 3 cheap pieces of fried bacon on top... The potatoes were terrible. Oily, soft, clearly roasted and then reheated after. The vegetables were plain, could have been improved e.g. roasted carrots, braised cabbage instead of plain boiled. 'Creamy' leeks were not creamy at all. Again very plain. Stuffing and Yorkshire pudding was the only nice part - these were fresh cooked and tasty. Other food ordered were pies and these were nice. Staff were friendly. Just a big shame about the roasts.
