We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

- CMChris Magee6 days ago5.0It's great that you can sit in and relax although the air con is a little noisy. There is quiet piped music and the chairs are quite comfy. A good spot to break your journey. Use the Greggs app if you are a regular visitor for free food and drink as it does help. Greggs is also Fair trade for it's coffee, which is good. The staff are really friendly and Keep the shelves full. The shop is clean and seems well looked after.

As for the service, it was your typical, standard Greggs experience: efficient and straightforward, but nothing out of the ordinary. The food, however, was a highlight. The sausage rolls were excellent, offering that classic savoury flavour with a perfectly balanced texture—the pastry had a light, golden crunch that remained soft and flaky with every bite.

One of the workers even offered to make fresh hot pizzas, which was a great touch. It’s also a nice big store with plenty of seating. Probably one of the best Greggs branches I’ve visited.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
