  One of our favourite places. Staff are amazing. Setting is lovely. Totally dog friendly. They have good wines. The food is delicious only lost a star from me because the portion of fries is tiny.

  My partner and I visited on Sunday evening and had a roast, cannot fault it! The creamed leeks were delicious along with the roast potatoes which were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The meat itself was flavoursome and tender. When we were there the service we received was excellent. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We got chatting to a few other customers who were local and it’s clear that it is a gem in Thelwall. Can’t wait to visit again!

  Came here today with my family the magician was there he was fantastic what lovely vibe the pub now is we also had food i had the sausage and mash and my wife had the chicken schnutzel We will definitely return everything was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough 0

  I really like the Pickering Arms, I am not a regular pub going person and I only tend to nip in here after a long day of working outside on a hot day, it's location is on my current way home and to simply nip in for a Guinness en-route & have a brief chill out works for me. The staff are always attentive,good humoured and pleasant. I tend to sit outside on the terrace and the atmosphere at circa 6:00pm has been relaxed and not to busy with a clientele that seems to be not so much "Up themselves" as I have experienced in the Manor house next door, which is of course a bonus.🤗😂

  We googled ‘gastropubs near me’ and came up with Pickering Arms. Lovely setting, but that’s as far as it went. OrderedHot Smoked Salmon pate… but was told 5 minutes later that they couldn’t serve because it was still frozen! I then asked for the Ardennes pate to then be told that was still frozen too, but they could do a bruschetta. My wife ordered ham hock with egg and chips and when it came the egg was hard so was sent back. When it came back the egg was burnt on the bottom. My meal was a simple fish finger sandwich and that was pretty poor too. (Poor quality bread) At no stage did anyone ask how we felt about the meal. ( we’d already paid since we’d sat in the garden) Certainly not a gastro-pub, everything was obviously frozen. We will never go pack.
