Don’t follow paying customers around the shop and then stand at the door as though they are thieves - it’s insulting and discriminatory when the person has done nothing

Had a lovely drive down to this co-op at 8pm on a Friday night in the hopes of purchasing some Rennie’s. Came to the self-serve till to pay as there was 0 staff manning the tills which is pretty usual for this store. Scanned my beloved Rennie’s only for it to pop up that ID was required and a staff member was on the way. Noticing the store was only about 10m long, I assumed this wouldn’t take too long. 5 minutes later a lady turned up, not in co-op uniform to confirm my purchase. She asked for ID, annoying since Rennie’s are recommended for 12 and over, and I explained I didn’t have any - my fault! Understanding she wouldn’t budge I asked my boyfriend to put them back and tried to continue to purchase my other items. As I did this, the Rennie’s were still on the item list and hence wouldn’t let me purchase without ID - I assumed it would be efficient for the worker who seemed to be a manager to get rid of this item so I could continue to pay. Instead she walked back over five minutes later and declined, bringing me back to the same page where it showed my other items and the infamous Rennie’s. After around 3 times trying to pay just for the items that didn’t need ID, I began to become frustrated. Eventually, she walked over to the till to remove the Rennie’s from my item list. This was around 20 minutes later - don’t ask me why she didn’t do this in the first place. She then muttered that I should have done this myself. Ah yes! Next time I will bring my co-op fob and do it myself as a customer! I eventually gave up and began to leave, I said I’ll purchase my other items elsewhere there isn’t much point waiting for her to figure out how to cancel the whole order! A, what I assume to be a manager because of the lack of uniform, who doesn’t know how to remove an item, or how to do it efficiently is pretty embarrassing. The lack of ID was never an issue, the 20 minute wait to complete my purchase of other items was! I also suggest she receives more training on till work and customer service. To be ignored for 20 minutes to then be told I should’ve done it myself is shocking. How is a customer supposed to remove an item from the till without worker access!!! Went to a different shop and got a pack of 24 Rennie’s for 4.50, a pack of 12 was 7 quid in co-op…. and we weren’t ignored! lovely stuff

Since it reopened, there's been a bigger range of stock and generally the self service machines work ok. However, I've noticed that often the tills are left unstaffed. If I want to pay for anything that can only be paid for at the till I've sometimes been waiting so long that I've given up. You might be losing business this way...

I was very upset when one of the Coop staff was making not nice jokes and rolling his eyes felt like kind of making me into laughing stock in front of other shoppers too, which made me feel very uncomfortable and upset. I loved going to Coop in Great Moor, I thought usually staff were very nice, polite and helpful, but not this time, now I am not going for a while to that Coop.
