  Very disappointing experience I visited the Tesco café in Stockport on Saturday 28th March with a resident after shopping. Unfortunately, the experience was very poor. We ordered and paid in cash and were told the food would be brought shortly. After waiting over 30 minutes, staff said they had lost our order. I showed the receipt, and they said they would sort it. We then waited even longer, over an hour in total. During this time, other customers who ordered after us were being served before us, which was very frustrating. My resident became quite upset due to the long wait and lack of clear communication as he was observing others get I I g served. The café was also very unclean, with many tables left dirty and uncleared. I don’t blame the staff entirely as they seemed overwhelmed, but this is clearly a management issue. More staff are needed to handle busy periods.

  Was completely refurbishment during September 2023 and reopened with the usual excellent staff and excellent food (which is why I have left the following 5 star review unchanged). Unfortunately, the refurbishment means we will not be using the café as often as we have done in the past, because they no longer take cash. The counter has been replaced by order screens similar to the screens in MacDonalds and some M&S cafe's, and younger people will love them. Unfortunately, unlike the similar machines at MacDonalds and some M&S cafe's (which take cash as well as card) the new payment screens here only accept card payments. The café looks fine, and the food is as good as ever, but the payment system makes it feel very impersonal and there is less opportunity for banter with the friendly staff. Also, some of the older customers who usually pay by cash will now feel excluded. Personally, I prefer a choice, sometimes paying cash, sometimes by card. Latest image shows the café, and the back of the payment screens on left hand side. The original review was as follows: Food is excellent, as are the staff. Friendly, efficient, and professional. Breakfast is always hot, well cooked, and well presented.
