I entered this establishment with hope in my heart and the Burger King app in my hand. A mistake I shan’t make again.
I politely approached the counter, unintentionally interrupting what appeared to be a deeply important chin wag between members of staff. The sheer burden of having to acknowledge a customer was evidently too much, as I was met with a tut powerful enough to shift nearby furniture.
I asked if I could use an offer on the app. The response, delivered with all the warmth of a prison canteen, was: “DON’T TAKE THEM ERE.”
No problem, I thought. Far be it from me to inconvenience the Kingdom. I quietly meandered back towards the self-service screens like a defeated Victorian orphan.
Then, from across the restaurant, came the bellow:
“NO BEEF, ONLY CHICKEN.”
Not spoken to me. Announced at me. Like a medieval town crier warning villagers of the plague.
At this point I realised I was no longer ordering lunch, but taking part in some kind of social experiment. I left immediately and went to KFC instead, where I was treated with the radical luxury of basic human interaction.
Would rather lick condensation off a bus window than return.
