Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Today, I ordered several baguettes, a pizza and some sweet treats through the Greggs app, including three éclairs priced at £1.60 each. When I arrived to collect my order, there were no éclairs available. I did not complain and simply replaced them with three doughnuts costing £1.40 each, meaning I lost 60p from what I had already paid. I did not mind because it was only a small amount, so I let it go.
However, when I got home, I discovered that one of the four baguettes I had ordered was missing. I therefore returned to the shop to explain what had happened and collect the missing baguette. The woman who served me not only insisted that she had put it in the bag, but also accused me of being a liar. She then gave me the baguette in an extremely rude and unpleasant manner.
Why would I spend £34 and then make up a story about a missing baguette that costs less than £4? The worst part is that this is the third time this woman has forgotten something from an order placed through the app, and she is always rude when I point it out. She is extremely impolite and apparently cannot count properly, because whenever it is not a baguette that is missing, it is something else. Instead of admitting her mistake, she becomes arrogant and condescending and calls me a liar.
It is disgraceful that they continue to employ someone who does not know how to treat customers, cannot do her job properly and does not seem to care. I will obviously not be returning to this Greggs while that woman continues to work there. It is not worth going somewhere where I am treated badly, and I would rather take my business elsewhere. That woman does not do her job properly.

I understand it's a popular and busy shop but I believe they have to pay more attention to cleanliness. Tables are dirty so you don't really like to sit in.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
