- UKU KJun 20, 20261.0My daughter visited this Greggs branch today and had a very upsetting experience with a female member of staff. According to my daughter, the staff member commented on her hijab and questioned whether she chose to wear it herself, saying that her parents must have made her wear it. She also expressed disbelief that Muslim women wear hijabs in hot weather. During the conversation, the staff member said she was a Turkish Cypriot. When my daughter mentioned that her father is Turkish, the staff member told her that he could not be Turkish because he comes from a particular region of Turkey. My daughter felt judged and uncomfortable because of comments about her religion, culture and family background. Customers should be treated with respect regardless of their beliefs or ethnicity.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
