  I’m extremely disappointed by the way we were treated by a member of staff on the self-service checkouts at around 2:30pm on Thursday 19th August. The member of staff was an older woman with blonde/grey hair and glasses. From the outset, her manner towards us was extremely miserable and unnecessarily rude. While we were scanning our items, she approached us and abruptly snatched the carrier bag we had placed on the scales, insisting that we scan it immediately. I explained politely that we only had a few items and intended to add the 40p bag at the end, so that we could put our items into it as we scanned them. Rather than simply explaining the store’s policy or asking us to scan the bag first, she aggressively took the bag off the scales and threw it back into our basket before storming away without any further explanation. The entire interaction was completely unnecessary and left us genuinely confused as to what we had done to warrant such hostile treatment. We were polite throughout and were more than willing to pay for the bag. I also couldn’t help but feel that we may have been unfairly profiled because we are in our early twenties, particularly given the disproportionate reaction to a 40p carrier bag. Obviously I cannot know her intentions, but the way we were treated certainly left us feeling uncomfortable and judged. There was absolutely no need for the aggression or attitude displayed in what should have been a very simple interaction. Staff are entitled to enforce store policies, but there is a professional and respectful way to do so. I hope this incident is looked into, as customers should not be made to feel intimidated or embarrassed over something so trivial.

  Staff are always friendly and helpful. Andrea in the bakery section was both today and her bakery display was outstanding on my visit.

  Dropped in for a few items; usually, I journey to Ystrad since this particular outlet is quite restricted. I'm unsure how they can label it "super." Caerphilly truly requires a retail establishment akin to the one in Llanelli—amply supplied and offering a broad assortment.
