Dear Tesco Customer Services,
I am writing to make a formal complaint about the unacceptable experience I had today at the Click+Collect pickup point at Tesco St Neots Extra.
I have been a loyal Tesco customer for over 25 years, and I have never felt so disappointed and let down by a company I have supported for so long. Unfortunately, today’s experience has seriously damaged my trust in Tesco.
I understand that stores can be busy and that delays can sometimes happen. However, what I find completely unacceptable is the lack of communication, the absence of any helpful solution, and the attitude of the staff member who dealt with me.
I had already been waiting for approximately 30 minutes when I asked the lady at the collection point how much longer I would have to wait. Her response was that she did not know and that my order was still being picked. In the end, I was left waiting for around 40 minutes.
If an order has not been picked and is not ready for collection, why is the customer asked to arrive at a specific collection time? Customers use Click+Collect because it is supposed to make shopping more convenient and save time. Instead, I was left waiting for an unreasonable amount of time without a clear answer, an apology, or any practical assistance.
What made this experience even worse was the staff member’s blunt and dismissive manner. I did not feel that I was being treated with basic courtesy or respect. Her attitude left me feeling extremely uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about the standard of customer service being provided.
I also felt that the way I was treated may have involved racial bias. I would like Tesco to take this concern seriously and investigate the interaction fairly rather than dismissing it as a simple misunderstanding.
After more than 25 years of loyalty, I expected much better from Tesco. I should not have to accept poor communication, an unhelpful response, and a disrespectful attitude when I am simply trying to collect an order I placed online.
Today’s experience has been so disappointing that I have decided to stop shopping with Tesco. I have broken my Clubcard and deleted the Tesco app because I no longer feel that my loyalty is valued. I never expected one visit to leave me feeling this strongly, but the way I was treated has brought my relationship with Tesco to an end.
I would like Tesco to:
1. Investigate what happened at the St Neots Extra Click+Collect collection point today.
2. Review the staff member’s conduct and assess whether appropriate customer service standards were followed.
3. Investigate my concerns about possible racial bias and explain how these concerns will be addressed.
4. Explain why customers are asked to arrive for collection when their orders are still being picked, resulting in such lengthy delays.
5. Provide a formal written response explaining what action will be taken to prevent other customers from experiencing the same situation.
I am not writing this complaint because I expect special treatment. I am asking for the basic courtesy, respect, and service that every customer deserves.
After more than 25 years as a Tesco customer, I believe my experience deserves to be taken seriously. I hope this complaint reaches the appropriate management team and receives a proper investigation.
I look forward to receiving your response.
Yours faithfully,
JN

Always stocked up, a decent gluten free and free from range. Always quite busy, but doable.

managers have got to teach their staff basic tasks! shocking!
