About

Bakery
We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks. Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours. Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

Seasoned Ladies working the 06:30 shift are very friendly and awesome... also there a young lad that on occasion does this shift too , he is also fantastic, after serving me twice in a row he remembered my drink and when he sees me coming ive noticed he already has my drink being made if there's no queue , very attentive morning shift. Ive gone to some pretty appalling others gregg stores where I will not return. This one is my fav.

They do need to improve the amount of sandwiches available, or make it clearer that they make them on demand. Staff are polite and helpful otherwise and food always up to Greggs standards.

Been in there twice now since it has opened, very little fresh sandwiches and cakes on the shelves and both times the pasties/bakes have been cold. Not a good look.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
