Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. - MMMikeJun 20, 20261.0❌ Disgraceful customer service and total disregard for accessibility I am a loyal, frequent regular at Greggs, but the treatment I received at this specific location today around 7:30 AM was completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting. First, I tried to redeem a fully completed free drink card. The manager explicitly refused it, claiming I was only allowed a small cup. When I politely corrected him—knowing standard policy allows any size regular or large standard hot/iced drink—he literally called me a liar. It is shocking for a manager to insult a regular customer over an official company loyalty card. Furthermore, when I requested a spare physical stamp card, the server told me I had to use the app. I clearly explained that due to being autistic and dyslexic, utilizing the digital app presents significant accessibility challenges for me. Instead of showing any understanding or accommodation, she dismissively told me I could just do it anyway, completely disregarding my hidden disabilities as if they didn't matter. This store desperately needs immediate staff training on official company loyalty policies, basic customer service etiquette, and—most importantly—the Equality Act and hidden disability awareness. To be called a liar by management and have accessibility needs openly dismissed by staff is a disgrace. I will not be returning until management addresses this behavior. I really suggest you get your staff re trained

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
