- ACAyyub ChowdhuryAug 9, 20262.0I genuinely struggle to understand how Subway has managed to turn itself into such a disappointing food chain. This branch is halal, which is a big positive, but unfortunately that is where the praise ends. I visited in the morning and had to wait around 10 minutes because a delivery of supplies had arrived. There was only ONE member of staff working, meaning he had to serve customers while simultaneously dealing with the delivery. That is not the employee’s fault. That is poor management. If you know deliveries are coming in, why is there only one person working? Then came the food. The bread was actually the highlight. I had the Italian Herbs & Cheese and it was freshly made, soft and genuinely enjoyable. Unfortunately, everything inside it dragged the sandwich straight back down. The meat and fillings tasted anything but fresh. There was no freshness, no excitement and no reason to think, “I need to come back here.” It was food that simply existed. For a company built around making sandwiches fresh in front of you, that is a pretty serious failure. And this is the bigger problem with Subway now. It feels like the brand has become far too dependent on individual franchise owners while standards are left somewhere in the background. You can walk into one Subway and have a decent meal, then walk into another and wonder how both are allowed to carry the same name. Subway is quickly becoming one of the worst major food chains around. The brand is going downhill, and unless management seriously addresses staffing, franchise standards and, most importantly, food quality, I can’t see things improving. The staff member did what he could with the situation he was given. The problem is whoever decided that one person was enough to run a morning shift while handling customers AND deliveries. Fresh bread can only save you for so long. The rest of the sandwich needs to be fresh too. If you want, I can make it **even more savage and sarcastic**, like a proper restaurant critic tearing the place apart.
