About

Bakery
We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks. Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours. Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

Zero star! They’ve got big rats in their shop running around when the shops closed. Lots of videos online

It's only a greggs so what can you expect. Breakfast bap was ok although the egg had no flavour. Apple Danish absolute joke its so lacking in any trace of apple The shop is dirty, service is slow. Security on the door busy on his phone even letting people bring bikes in. People asleep at tables, or just sat charging phones. Service is slow and indifferent. Avoid it I wish I had read the reviews before going in

Do not come here unless you want to be accused of stealing, very unprofessional and offensive. Food was then cold.

Please advise your cashiers not to touch food items that customers are about to eat, especially when it is unnecessary. This is not the first time I’ve experienced this issue. On multiple occasions, the staff member at the till has handled my food directly, placing her fingers underneath the plastic film that protects items such as potato wedges and chicken strips while counting or discussing meal deals. During my most recent visit, I made a conscious effort to keep the food on my side of the counter while ensuring it was clearly visible. Despite this, she still reached over and handled the items again in the same way that I described above. I understand that food may be handled without gloves in the kitchen, but once it has been served and is ready for customers, it should not be touched unnecessarily. This is unhygienic and off-putting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
