  We visited here last year and had a generally good experience so not sure what's changed in that time. We were extremely disappointed with our visit today and won't be returning. The food was honestly some of the worst we've been served. Simple dishes like poached eggs on toast and a tuna jacket potato should be impossible to get so wrong. The food arrived within minutes, which immediately suggested it hadn't been freshly prepared. The restaurant advertised gluten-free bread, but when we were told there wasn't any available, I opted for brown toast instead. What arrived was white bread that was barely toasted, with the plate literally swimming in water. The poached eggs were equally poor. The tuna jacket potato was mostly mayonnaise with very little tuna, and instead of a proper side salad it came with nothing more than lettuce leaves. To make matters worse, the water glasses were dirty, which completely put us off. The overall cleanliness of the establishment was poor too, with cobwebs clearly visible. The customer service was just as disappointing as the food. Nobody came to ask if everything was okay, and as we left we were completely ignored. A simple goodbye or thank you would have gone a long way. Overall, it was an awful experience from start to finish. Poor food, poor hygiene, and poor customer service. We certainly won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it to others.

  I loved the coffeeel and tea cake I had. Very good service and lots of little alcoves in this place make it unique.
