We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

- MKM Alam Khan1 day ago4.0Tried the chips, latte, and cheese and onion patty, and everything was nice and enjoyable. The food was fresh and the latte was good too. It can get quite crowded at times because of its busy location near the entrance to the M40, but the service was still fine. Overall, a good experience and a convenient place to stop for a quick bite and drink.

Having prepared my breakfast Baggette, they then told me that they aren't a real "Greggs" and that they don't accept payment by the mobile app. At the time, I had no other payment so I explained that, so they threw my baggette in the bin. Customers don't know and don't care about your franchise arrangement, if it says "Greggs" then we expect to pay with the app, like in other stores.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
