  ID'd for an energy drink I'm nearly 30 years old with a big beard. I buy one in here everyday so I don't know why the person decided to ID me today

  Been shopping here for 3years+ and have never been asked for an ID to buy 1 pack of paracetamol but today with Silvia at the front desk of the Tesco Express Frederick Street, everything changed. She asked me (wife and mother of one) to show her my id for a pack of paracetamol. I mentioned that I don’t have a physical id but I can show one on my phone. She said she can’t have a look at the one my phone, I proceed to ask why and she says company policy says not to touch customers’ phones and I respond saying don’t touch, just have a look at it to confirm my age. She goes on to blatantly refuse without offering any alternatives. I then request another member of staff who has seen me come into the shop several times with my husband and kid and the lady looks at Silvia and proceeds to say oh I have never seen you in all my life. I then say okay, what is the minimum age to get paracetamol and she says 18; I ask Silvia, do I not look physically older than 18. I have said I can show you my child, his birth certificate or my passport as proof but you still will not attend to me? Silvia says she just can’t take my word for it. Another customer confirmed he’s seen me and my kid and that I’m being racially profiled by Silvia. A white lady behind me around my age was going to purchase cigarettes and she said to me that she didn’t have an ID. However Silvia proceeded to sell her the cigarettes without an ID. Eventually, another male staff comes on and Silvia explains, he looks at me and I also explain and he simply said he can confirm that I’m older than 18.

  When you eventually find the staff they are very rude as if you are being an inconvenience by shopping there. Highly recommended some staff training in costumer service.
