Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

    I would like to appreciate the fantastic customer service i receive nearly everyday at the greggs high st birminghan branch. I come here on my lunch break, even though the queue looks long, all the staff work extremely efficiently to reduce waiting time, they are all polite and professional especially the manager Abdul, he always has a smile on his face when serving and says hello. Very attentive and all the staff are wonderful. They are a credit to the greggs chain. They keep the place clean and tidy. Hence why i return every lunch break. Thank you to the whole team, they truly are all brilliant.

    Went to Greg's in primary- asjed how warm the pasties were, the guy serving said mmm warmish the other staff member was trying to push it on me.. y am I paying for a cold warm pasty 🤔 so I took myself 2 doors down and (only waited about 4mins) got a FRESH HOT cheese and onion 😊 the guy that served me was brilliant 👏

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
