Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.
I had a really bad experience at Greggs. I asked for a large coffee and paid with a £5 note, but the staff member only gave me 10p change. When I questioned it, because the coffee costs £2.90, it seemed like I was being charged more than I should have been.
It’s not even about the money it’s about the service and honesty. This experience has put me off and I won’t be going back. NOT PROFESSIONAL 👎

As a regular customer of Greggs I find that every other week ni the coffee machines are breaking down. Broke again this morning at 8.56. Maybe some new ones would fix the problem.

We went to Gregg’s at the Twin Spires today at around 12 mid day. There was only 1 woman on the counter who looked very stressed, panicked and fed up (and completely not afraid to show customers). We ordered 2 steak bakes, a salad, apple juice and coffee. I asked her as she was taking the steak bakes if they were still hot and she nodded. As we sat I touched the steak bakes and they were cold so I brought them back to her and asked if she could warm them up for me. She took them and was about to put them on the tray then told me she could give me fresh ones but they’ll take another 15min as they’re not allowed to reheat items. I just took the bakes back and we ate them cold. I later went back again to buy donuts and saw her pull a tray of sausage rolls from the oven and set them inside the glass counter. I’m pretty sure they were the same ones sitting there when we came in. It’s safe to say that I’m not going back to this branch again. The standard in customer service is not acceptable and staff members behind the counter should have better people skills.
Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.
What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
