We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.
Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours.
Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats.
Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

My experience at Greggs Darwen was very disappointing. The service feels unnecessarily strict and extremely slow. It often seems like staff are more focused on monitoring each other rather than serving customers and delivery drivers efficiently.
On one occasion, a staff member spent over two minutes just cleaning her hands while delivery drivers were left waiting in line. Small delays like this add up and cause significant waiting times.
There appears to be no proper system or priority for delivery drivers, which makes the whole experience frustrating and time-wasting. It honestly makes you not want to accept orders from this location.
I hope management takes this seriously and improves the overall service.

Called at Greggs for breakfast. The que was usually long and slow. When we finally got to the counter the young chap took our order and started to prepare it and then I herd him swear and say im.off and he vanished thought he back. We stood a while then the assistant from the other till came acrross apologising and said he'd burnt his hand, he would sort our order. This member of staff Nathan was under immense pressure and was working 2 tills trying to replenish stock and keep the shop going single handed, he was so calm and cheerful, what an asset to greggs he is.
The trainee gent maybe was having a bad day and burn his hand on top and just as when we had been served and paid he came back and apologise to his colleague, never apologised to us.
Food was good but initial service was slow and poor but Nathan saved the day

I really don't understand why people work somewhere and not want to be there. I got a sprite and cheese and onion bake and the young lad was not interested at, the way he passed the food with the lack of everything. I said cheers and got no response. I was going to say something but couldn't be bothered in the end

Generous opening hours and nice staff. The whole service area itself is very good actually and this Gregg's compliments it really well. Has good availability of sweet and savoury products and they tasted fresh. Good little seating area to chill out in as well.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
